Shane has known nothing but everyone she loves leaves her. Her mom, brother, the father of her son. The only ones that have stuck is her Aunt Caroline and Uncle Scooter. She is a single mom who is working to keep a roof over her head and food on her table.Jensen has known nothing but pain and heartache in his life. He may be a rich boy, but the beating his father gives him, and the degrading way he tells Jensen he will be nothing, isn’t worth all the money in the world.Jensen meets Shane at a low part of his life and she lights up his world. But of course, tragedy strikes and Jensen has to leave Shane alone with their son. But he works to come back and win back their love.I was worried about reading this book. I HATE men that leave their family and live their lives and then decide to come back after a few years. Well, that’s not the case with Jensen. I won’t spoil the story, but he had to leave. He joined the Army and worked to better himself so he can come back for his family that he never stopped loving. There was no real OW drama with Jensen and I am glad about that.I really liked their story. I think Jessica Prince did a good job with it. I can’t wait for more from Redemption! ***5 Stars***I FLoved this book.It’s really that simple.I FLoved it. It pushed all my romance buttons in the best of ways and made my heart all kinds of happy and has me wanting MORE! (Which isn’t really a surprise at all, but needs to be stated).I adored Shane and Jensen...Shane just a tinsy bit more, but still, these two were a lot of fun. Shane is hard working, strong, independent and just a really good woman. Her heart has taken a beating over the years, and she does tend to have walls surrounding it, but once she considers you hers, she will do anything for you. Jensen was a surprise, a good one, but still a surprise. He is all kinds of protective alpha male, but he’s got all kinds of demons riding him hard and it kind of messes with his head and heart.Their journey to their HEA was a mixed bag of fun. We have small town romance where everyone is all up in each other’s ~ which is always a lot of fun as far as I’m concerned. Then we have the whole second chance thing that was made even more intense with a child added to the mix and a lovely little dash of outside drama, and the ride was crazy, but good crazy. I’ll admit that I was totally Team Shane, but I was rooting for Jensen to grovel and make amends because the chemistry between them was hard to deny and I was very happy with how everything worked out. Now, while I get why Jensen left ~ not that I agree fully, but do understand ~ there was one part of that whole situation that had me wanting to toss my Kindle into the freezer. I had a total “WT...!?! Why would you…?!?!” moment. In fact, I’m still trying to figure that one out.This book. This series ~ well, this one and Hope Valley, makes my romance loving heart happy and I’m always excited to dive back into these worlds. The characters are all well written, the connection between all the characters feels real and has me wishing I could hang out with them and the drama is rarely OTT. So, it makes for a great way to escape from reality for a couple hours ~ especially with all the crazy going on in the world.Now the author always gives us a tease about who the next couple will be and I’m pretty sure about who will be up on the chopping block next (C & L) but there was another moment in the book ~ a very brief one during an important moment that has me kinda hoping that these two (G & W) might end up having a thing because I think it could be all kinds of fun..but we’ll see. So, now to practice patience for the next book in either series to land in my greedy hands!Note: You can read this as a stand-alone, but it would be a lot more fun it you start at the beginning of the series, or even start with Hope Valley if you haven’t ventured there yet.
